Wiltshire League Final 2024

Sunday 15th September 2024 saw 14 Clubs converge on neighbouring Somerset and the impressive facilities of Bath University’s Sports Village to compete in the Wiltshire League finals.  It was a long and difficult road to get to this point with pools flooding and venue cancellations but it was great to finally be able to get all clubs together to finish off the competition on a high.

Gala 1 included teams who finished in 9^th -14^th place after the 3 qualifying rounds and Gala 2 teams who finished in 1^st to 8^th place over the 47 event competition.  This was also an opportunity for swimmers, coaches, officials, spectators and organisers to familiarise themselves with the facilities ahead of County championships for competitors 14 years and over in February 2025.

Both Galas were hugely competitive and swum in a sportsman’s like manner, with an abundance of close finishes. For many it was a first time competing in a long course pool and there were plenty of smiling faces and great support for each other from start to finish particularly with older swimmers supporting their younger team mates.

There was lots of support from spectators and noise levels were high throughout culminating in the final mixed 8x50m freestyle canon relays in both galas. We were delighted to welcome the South West Regional President, Jill Beard and our own County President Mel Sweetman who presented certificates to all competing teams and trophies to the winners. Congratulations to all teams and especially to Trowbridge and Swindon Dolphin who were winners in Gala1 and Gala 2 respectively.
