It is with great sadness that we have to tell you that Tony died this morning, after a short illness.
Tony came into swimming over forty years ago with his children; mentored by Doreen Clark, he became qualified as a teacher, coach and official which started a commitment as a stalwart of Swindon Dolphin ASC which carried on for the rest of his life.
He introduced the Swindon Open Meet with Wroughton and Tigersharks and in the 1980’s took the position of Chief Coach of Dolphins. His technical skills were superb
he cared for his swimmers, it was always about them, not himself and he worked tirelessly for the club ensuring that it was supporting the wider view of Wilts County.
He was elected as Wilts County ASA President in 1997.
In more recent years he has been a regular licensed official at all county events also supporting other clubs open meets. One parent, from a local club, upon hearing the news earlier said. “ I did not really know him, but he has always been there ever since I came into swimming. He was always so kind, supportive and encouraging to my son”
That really was Tony, he will be greatly missed.
Our thoughts are with, his devoted wife, Pat and Mark and David and their families.
